Why I Needed a Habit Tracker
Building better days, one small habit
When I first started my business,
I thought motivation would be enough.
I had a clear vision.
I had big dreams.
I was ready to work harder than I ever had.
But living day to day is different from dreaming.
Between raising kids, running a business, and trying to manage everything else,
most days disappeared before I could even catch my breath.
I would tell myself,
"Tomorrow, I'll do better."
"Tomorrow, I'll have more energy."
"Tomorrow, I'll finally focus."
But after a few days, I would fall right back into old patterns.
Busy but unfocused.
Tired but restless.
Sometimes, it was just one small thing that knocked me off track.
I'd miss one workout because a deadline came up,
or because the kids needed something,
or simply because I was too tired.
One skipped day turned into two.
Two turned into a week.
A week into a month.
And each time, I felt a little more frustrated with myself.
I started thinking,
"Maybe I’m just not the kind of person who can stick with things."
Eventually, I realized something important:
It wasn’t about trying harder.
It wasn’t about pushing myself more.
It was about creating a rhythm I could return to.
A structure that didn’t rely on how motivated I felt.
Something simple enough to hold onto,
even when everything else felt overwhelming.
That’s when I decided to create a habit tracker.
Not a complicated system.
Not a long list of goals.
Just a handful of small things that actually mattered.
Things I chose to keep:
Get up when the alarm rings
Drink a glass of water and take vitamins
Focus on the most important task first
Spend 15 minutes fully present with my kids
Move my body for at least 20 minutes
Read for 20 minutes
Spend 5 minutes learning a new app, tool, or skill
Write down three small tasks for tomorrow before bed
And just as important, things I chose to let go of:
Checking email, news, or social media first thing in the morning
Getting lost in busywork that doesn’t matter
Criticizing myself for not being perfect
I didn’t build these habits because I wanted a perfect day.
I built them because I needed a way to find my way back —
every time I drifted.
And I still drift.
There are days when I miss things.
Weeks that feel heavier than others.
But now, I don’t stay lost.
I know how to come back.

I’m sharing my habit tracker with you because I know how easy it is to get lost in the busyness.
I also know how powerful it can be to have something steady and simple to hold onto.
My list works for me, but your list should fit your own life.
So I’m sending you a template: One blank version so you can make your own.

(A ready-to-use template + a blank page for your own list.)
P.S.
If you prefer using an app to track your habits,
I found Onrise really helpful — it's simple, free, and easy to use.
Just in case you want something digital to support your daily rhythm. 🌿
A better life isn't something you chase.
It's something you practice — quietly, steadily — until it simply feels like who you are.
Through small routines, you remember:
you're already the person you hoped to be.
Today, what will you honor in yourself?
