Sleeping Well Is Living Well

My sleep story

In partnership with

We spend about a third of our lives sleeping.
Some people can function on just a few hours of rest—but I’m not one of them.
When I don’t sleep enough, everything feels heavier. Even simple conversations with my family feel just a bit sharper than they should.

After the kids are in bed and the house is finally quiet, I get a little time to myself.
Because those hours feel so rare and precious, I used to stay up late, trying to squeeze more into them.
But the less I slept, the harder my days became.

Someone once told me that happiness isn’t something you wait for.
We often think we’ll be happy once the kids are older, once we earn more, once we buy the house.
But that kind of happiness always seems just out of reach.

Real happiness is quieter than that.
It might be as simple as waking up well-rested on soft, clean sheets.
That small moment—after a full night’s sleep, with sunlight quietly spilling in—
maybe that’s the kind of happiness we’ve been missing.

Lately, these hot summer nights haven’t made it easy.
When the temperature stays above 80°F, I find it hard to fall asleep.
My rhythm is thrown off, and I carry that unrest with me the next day.
That’s when having a gentle night routine becomes something I really rely on.

Here’s what helps me wind down:

1. Write down your worries
Take just 15 minutes to put your thoughts on paper.
Getting them out of your head can make them feel lighter.
This simple act—what some call “journal therapy”—helps me feel more at ease before bed.

2. End your day with gratitude
Write down three things you were grateful for today.
They don’t have to be big—small moments matter, too.
Gratitude has a quiet way of softening how we feel.

3. Step away from your phone
Have you ever found yourself scrolling through your phone, only to realize it’s suddenly way past bedtime?
It’s happened to me more times than I’d like to admit.
Try turning off screens at least an hour before sleep.
Instead, pick up a book, play gentle music, or listen to calming sounds from nature.
Give your body a chance to ease into rest, without blue light getting in the way.

4. Create your own bedtime ritual
Before bed, I brush my teeth with Tidalove’s solid toothpaste—perfect for ending the day.
I also dab a bit of calming essential oil on my wrists.
The scent helps me relax and shift into sleep mode.
That’s it—nothing fancy. Just a few easy steps to help me slow down and sleep better.

Each night, we return to our own quiet world.
It’s where we rest, recover, and gather the energy to begin again.

Sleeping well is living well.
May you find your own peaceful rhythm tonight.
Good night.With love,
